For highschool graduation presents, alot of asian girls are given the option of plastic surgery of the eyes so that they're eyes fold over. FYI this surgury is a very simple one, and also makes the eyes alot bigger, makes it much easier to apply makeup, and although they do slow down eventual drooping of the eyelid ( so that it affects vision ), it is mostly done for cosmetic reasons. I've already decided years ago that I wanted to get the operation done when I graduate high school in about a year. It has nothing to do with insecurity, because I already love myself and know I will continue to do so no matter how I look. I already feel beautiful, but I understand that post-surgery, my face will proabably be very stunning. I think that will be fun to have as I go through life. But I just wanted some help getting over how people will think of me afterwards since my face will be a little bit different. The feelings are not about regret at all. But here is where the philosophical challenge comes in: Is it alright for me to go through life with a face( or rather eyes) that I was not given at birth? The sciences of attraction all say people are attracted to the physical traits of their partners because they want their children to have the same traits. But since not all of my traits will be from my genes, will any attraction I find from a guy relating to my looks be like my lying to them?
